Casino Information
Yellowbird (East) Community League obtains a casino license approximately every two years, which is our major fundraising event. In past years, the casino funds have been used for major projects such as upgrading the skating and playground facilities and a $15 000 donation to the Kaskitayo skatepark next to the YMCA. In addition, these funds help minimize membership fees by assisting with the administration costs of the community league and the operating costs of the community hall. Another major use of the funds is to provide officials, uniforms, and equipment in order that the community league may offer sports and other programs at a reasonable cost.
Volunteers will be provided with training and support by experienced, licensed casino advisors in both the cash cage and count rooms and make the experience one that you will want to repeat.
  • The casino control system is computerized. If you can use an ATM banking machine, you will feel comfortable with the system and the equipment
  • You will be greeted on arrival, signed in, and given a nametag to wear at all times. All volunteers will be required to have photo identification with them at all times during the casino event.
  • Your shift at the casino is important. Volunteers should be prepared to work their entire shift. Arriving late and/or leaving early can inconvenience other volunteers and disrupt the casino. If you come back for another shift, you are required to stay in the same job.
  • Please call if you cannot work or are going to be late. If an emergency should prevent you from working the casino as planned, please inform the casino director as soon as possible.
  • Volunteer dress in casinos is casual business dress. Please do not wear jeans, T-shirts, leggings, athletic wear or revealing clothing.
  • Volunteers ARE NOT ALLOWED TO PLAY any casino game, VLT, or slot machine on each of the full two days of the casino, whether or not you are working a shift (Alberta Gaming and Liquor Commission regulations).
  • "Volunteers cannot be under the influence of alcohol, or consume liquor, or use illicit substances before or during their shift" (AGLC CTCOG2.6.4 (d)).
  • Volunteering at the casino is easy and fun. Snacks will be provided and you will get time for breaks and meals, which you must sign for and will be paid for by the community league.
  • In order to ensure volunteering at the casino is as safe as possible, security personnel will accompany you to your car after your shift if requested.
  • If you are interested in volunteering to work at the casino or have any other questions please contact the casino director at casino@yellowbirdcl.com
