Yellowbird - Bearspaw Community Soccer 2008

We offer a spring outdoor community-based soccer program for children ages 4 to 18 years of age. Our program runs from late April to the end of June. U12 to U18 teams in Provincial playoffs will play into July.

Under 6, Under 8, and Under 10 teams will play within the KICKS (Kaskitayo Intra-Community Kids Soccer) group of communities. Blue Quill, Yellowbird, Ermineskin, Heritage Valley, Blackmud Creek, and Twin Brooks offer a program that keeps players closer to home and keeps the fees affordable.

Players in the Under 12 to Under 18 categories will play within SWEMSA (South-West Edmonton Minor Soccer Association). Fees for these ages are set by SWEMSA. Fees for all ages include an individual and team photo.

Competitive players: Players ages 10 years and older whom are interested in a higher level of commitment) may want try-out for the Southwest Sting Program, operated through SWEMSA (www.swemsa.com). Registering with the Yellowbird program will ensure placement on a community team if the player is unable to secure a position on an elite team.

Our season runs from mid April until the end of June. In addition to soccer registration fees, there will also be a cheque required for volunteer and uniform deposits, and a community membership fee. Space may be limited this year, so please don’t delay in using the online registration to secure a position. Late fees will be applied after March 1. Players trying out for Sting are also encouraged to register with their communities to hold their spot.

Referee fees have been raised, and there are new incentives for players who would like to be game officials. Contact eesk@shaw.ca. New coaches and volunteers are also very welcome, and full training is provided. Be a part of community soccer!

SWEMSA rules require all players must register in the community in which they reside. Information on Outdoor Soccer can also be found at www.SWEMSA.COM or (780) 481-1015

Payment must still be made in person on the registration days at Yellowbird Hall. At this time we will also require a $50.00 uniform deposit check, and one $100.00 volunteer check per family. If you are able to volunteer your check will be returned.

A $20.00 processing fee will be withheld for any player who registers with Yellowbird and withdraws before April 07/06. Any withdrawals after that date will not have funds refunded. This is due to teams being made up well before this date - so additional time is required to rebalance teams.

Players must wear Yellowbird shoe tags or carry membership cards. Any player not in possession of proof of membership can be asked to leave by a waiting Yellowbird member. Players are asked to respect the waiting players and limit their playing time appropriately.
